Learn

Create reusable skills from tasks or workflows with guided review.

Installation

  1. Make sure Claude is on your device and in your terminal.

Skills load from ~/.claude/skills/ when Claude Code starts up — so you need it on your machine first. If you don't have it yet, install it once with the command below, then run claude in any terminal to verify.

    One-time setup
    npm i -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

    Already have it? Skip ahead.

  2. Paste into Claude Code or into your terminal.

This copies the whole skill folder into ~/.claude/skills/learn-makecindy/ — the SKILL.md plus any scripts, reference docs, or templates the skill ships with. Safe default: works for every skill.

    Faster alternative (instruction-only skills)

Skips the clone and grabs only the SKILL.md file. Don't use this if the skill ships Python scripts, reference markdowns, or asset templates — they won't be downloaded and the skill will fail when it tries to load them.

    Quick install (SKILL.md only)
    Sign up to copy
  3. Restart Claude Code.

Quit and reopen Claude Code (or any other agent that loads from ~/.claude/skills/). New skills are picked up on startup.

  4. Just ask Claude.

Skills auto-activate when your request matches the skill's description — no slash command needed. Trigger phrases live in the skill's own frontmatter; you can read them in the “What this skill does” section above.

When Claude uses it

Distill a reusable Cindy Skill from the current task, a described workflow, or a SkillHub skill through Cindy's review flow when the user directly invokes /learn or /skill:learn in Pi.

What this skill does

Learn

Start Cindy's managed Learn flow. Cindy gathers relevant evidence, creates the Skill in a separate task, and presents a diff for review before saving anything to the user's Skills directory.

Do not create or edit Skill files directly as a substitute for this flow.

Parse the invocation text after /learn (or Pi's /skill:learn runtime alias) and call cindy_helpercall_tool once with name: "start_skill_learning":

  • With no text, pass source_kind: "session" and input: "".
  • For hub:<slug> [instructions], pass source_kind: "hub", hub_slug: <slug>, hub_catalog_scope: "market", and the remaining text as input.
  • For hub:<market|team>:<slug> [instructions], use the stated hub_catalog_scope.
  • Otherwise pass source_kind: "freetext" and the full remaining text as input.

Do not pass a task ID, working directory, or output path. Cindy binds the current task and owns staging, review, and installation.

After a successful call, briefly tell the user that Learn started and that progress and review will appear in Cindy. Do not poll or call the tool again. If the helper or tool is unavailable, say that this Skill requires Cindy's Learn host; do not bypass its review flow by writing Skill files directly.
